Project Ideas Travel: Traveling is something that I always thought was very interesting and India is definitely one of the many many destinations on my list to visit. Being a pilot I see the many opportunities that I have to visit these wonderful places. India always seems like this unique and unfamiliar place that I have never considered traveling too but have been interested in, sounds hypocritical but thats how I feel. Also had no idea the Himalayans were in India. Moving through this course I can give myself a better idea of what it is like to travel to India and I could see all kinds of opportunities that India holds.  Research Food: I am a food nut! I grew up cooking and traveling and trying new foods. However, Indian food is always that one cuisine that I steered away from. I am not sure why. I am always interested in trying new things and cooking new things. I think it would be fun to potentially explore these stories and the cuisine of India and also try my hand at ma...

Week 2 Story

The Alligator and the Raccoons Heart Once upon a time, a cliche... I know, but the story has to start somewhere. In the beginning down in the mystical land of Jimmy Buffet fans, Hawaiian shirts, and retirement we come across a nice swamp in Florida. Here we meet a clever raccoon who lived along the shores of the swamp. The raccoon spent his sunny Florida days collecting and eating trash that he found in the nearby park that nestled up nicely along the water line of the swamp. Just down the swamp lived an Alligator who lived with his wife. One day the Alligator was swimming through the swamp and realized he could not find any food. The Alligator soon came upon the Raccoon who was enjoying some half eaten sandwiches and some chip crumbs, a typical trash meal for the clever Raccoon. The Alligator asked kindly to share in the Raccoons meal, which he happily accepted the company. Overtime the Alligator and the Raccoon became best of friends spending many hours together and of course s...

Reading Notes: Week 2 Anthology

Image
For this weeks reading notes I am going to focus on  The Crocodile and the Monkey's Heart  by Marie L. Shedlock. I really enjoyed this story. It is simplicity and its lesson are very nice. I think this story is a nice example of less is more and often powerful. I really thought it was interesting to see that the crocodile thought he was the clever one and the author carried that well, but then you saw the monkey's ability to out think the croc in the face of adversity. The crocodiles plan was to take advantage of what the monkey wanted however the Monkey was able to take advantage of the fact that the Crocodile was a bit gullible. However, the Croc did betray the Monkey's trust even in the food chain trust is a sacred vow. The setting reminded me of scenes from the Jungle Book, the original cartoon don't get me started with the remakes, that setting and and I kind of pictured the croc from the movie as the crocodile and the monkey I pictured as Baloo I know he I a goril...

Week 2 Reading Overview

Image
For the week 2 Overview I selected the PDE Ramayana Online. My primary reason was definitely because it is free and I can access it online. In addition to that I do like the idea of multiple authors so I can see the many different ways the story can be told. As for the comic books and videos, the first comic book I selected was the Ancestors of Rama  and the second was the  Lord of Lanka . The reason why I picked these two is because they both tell different stories that are familiar to me. The Ancestors of Rama reminds me almost of Robin Hood in a way, distribution of the wealth to everyone. The story of being tested and using moral judgment to make the right decision was another part that I enjoyed. The Lord of Lanka spoke out in a similar way it reminded me of old knight's stories. It is the classic tale of jealousy and power and how the righteous always prevail in the face of right and wrong. Of course never without a difficult and trying journey. For videos I picked Harry...
